London Weather

It takes a while for Aussies to get used to the weather in London , it isn’t all doom and gloom though with sunny spells common during summer. The skies of London are often overcast, which shower seemingly occurring out of the blue. (reminds you of Melbourne) If you have ever watched repeats when Wimbledon or the Cricket is washed out you know what I mean.

One thing to remember when you are booking your flight or staring out at a damp London day is that if you want sun you would probably be in Cairns or the South of France.

Winter in London

Aussies need to remember that our Summer means London Winter, you see a lot of first time travellers getting off the plane at Heathrow in their shorts and t-shirts. It is a shock to the system when you feel the cold winter air. The winters which fall between December and February are cold, snowfall happens periodically however it is not as common in London as it is further north. The temperature does however hover just above freezing.

Summer in London

Summer in London surprises a few Aussies as the temperature nudges towards 30 degrees. The seemingly lack of any air conditioning makes these days quite unbearable. Most Londoner hit the parks when the sun is out to try and catch much needed rays. The northerly location of the UK means that the summer evenings are quite long and with daylight savings the sun wont set till almost 10pm.
